Sport and Active Communities FREE Self-defence and personal safety course- A beginners' course worth £150.
• 6 hours total – you must be able to attend all sessions (future course dates will be published shortly if you can't make these dates)

• Week 1 – Wednesday 7th May

All sessions will take place from 2-5pm in Davies Hall, Froebel College.
Mixture of theory and practical exercises. All fitness levels welcome.
You will learn how to keep yourself safe, and in the event of an attack, tips and techniques to help you get away safely. You can choose to just observe or take part in sessions, it is up to you.
• Week 1: What is personal safety? How can we help ourselves stay safe? Basic movements to keep a safe distance. What makes us a target – how can we change the story? How is self-defence different from martial arts? Protection techniques. Facts about self-defence – thinking about levels of threat and how you can reduce them. Law and reasonable force (the legal stuff).
• Week 2: The AOI Model. Floorwork and transitions, building your strength. Mindset is everything. Adding more challenging techniques with controlled pressure. Putting it all together. Certificate award.
A refundable deposit of £5 is required to book.
This will be refunded if you attend both sessions listed above only
