The Well, Southlands Chapel,
We are very pleased to welcome Maki Saionji, Vice President of the Goi Peace Foundation, an international organisation based in Tokyo that works to promote peace and global citizenship. Maki will be receiving an honorary degree at the graduation ceremony. She is the granddaughter of the Japanese peace activist Masahisa Goi, who founded the world peace prayer ‘May Peace Prevail on Earth’ and initiated the Peace Poles now found across the world, including the one outside the Queens Building. Maki continues her grandfather’s legacy through her own peace and humanitarian work.
We will begin with an informal opportunity to meet Maki from 11am to 11.30am, followed by a Q&A with her from 11.30am to 12 noon and a peace gathering around the Peace Pole outside the Queen’s Building from 12 noon to 12.30pm. Please feel very welcome to join us for all or part of the event.
Whether you are passionate about peace, want to learn about Maki’s international work or just want to hear inspiring stories from someone who's working to change the world, we would be delighted if you could join us.
